Union Councils (UCs)

MULTAN
With an addition of 55 new Union Councils (UCs), the total of local body constituencies in Multan district now stands at 184 as the process of delimitation and hearing of objections has finally ended.
Besides 184 UCs, 24 new constituencies with the name of Wards have also been constituted in Shujabad and Jalalpur Pirwala tehsils to form two autonomous Municipal Committees in both towns.
A final list issued on Tuesday by District Coordination Officer (DCO) Zahid Saleem Gondal said that as many as 81 UCs including 67 from City and 14 City Sub Division will be part of the Municipal Corporation Multan while the remaining 103 UCs would lie in the limits of District Council.
The list was likely to surface a couple of days back but the mismanagement and lethargic behaviour of the DCO office staff as well as immense political pressure caused the delay. The parliamentarians and local office-bearers of the ruling PML-N laid siege to the offices of Assistant Commissioners to get the constituencies of their respective areas reshaped according to their will. The final hearing of objections was held by the Commissioner Multan division three days back and hence the list was issued.
AS per details, the District Council will be consisted of all rural UCs of Multan district. The statistics released by the DCO office show that 83 UCs from Tehsil Saddr, 12 Shujabad and eight Jalalpur Pirwala will be the part of the District Council. Similarly, the Municipal Corporation Multan will be constituted of 67 UCs from the City tehsil and another 14 from City Sub Division.
On the other hand, as many as 12 new wards have been created in Shujabad tehsil and the public representatives elected from these wards will constitute Municipal Committee. Similarly, the Municipal Committee of Jalalpur Pirwala tehsil will also be consisted of 12 wards. Earlier, both Shujabad and Jalalpur Pirwala used to have their Towns Councils but now Municipal Committees will replace the town councils.
Canal water overflow: Overflow of water from a canal inundated several low-lying areas creating problems for the local population here on Tuesday.
According to details, water started to seep out from the canal passing through Rajbah-2, the centre of Burewala city.
Reports said that water entered residential areas adjacent to the canal including Rehmatabad Colony and Warriach Town besides inundating Quaid-e-Azam Stadium and national highway.
The dwellers had to face severe difficulties as water entered their houses and flooded streets, restricting movement of pedestrians and motorists.
The affected population said that mud and sand gathered at the bed of the canal had reduced its water flow capacity. They also criticized the Irrigation Department for not de-silting the canal which often resulted in water overflow, rendering damages to surrounding population.

MULTAN
With an addition of 16 new union councils (UCs), the total number of UCs located within the municipal limits of Multan district is likely to stand at 200 as District Coordination Officer (DCO) Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah declared the municipal boundaries here on Thursday.
Earlier, the union councils 1 to 45 were shown in the limits of municipal corporation Multan while now this number has risen to 61 union councils with an addition of 16 new ones. Sources said that the union councils between 46 and 58 as well as UC-127 Qasim Bela, UC-128 Garden Town and UC-129 Jhakkarpur have been added to the municipal UCs of Multan.
Although the delimitation of local bodies’ constituencies has been done, the process has not been finalized as yet. The district administration sought objections from the stake-holders on the process and a number of objections were received on Thursday. The decisions on the objections are, however, pending.
On the other hand, sitting members of the national and provincial assemblies as well as ticket-holders gathered at the offices DCO and ACs concerned to get the local bodies’ constituencies, lying in their areas, reshaped according to their will. Sources claimed that many constituencies were delimited more than one time as a result of which their boundaries could not be finalized.

Thank you for writing this quality informational content.  Your writing technique is impressive and enjoyable to read.  You have many interesting points of view that give me pause to consider. The act of holding a meeting with members of a council to solve issues. Basically a counciling appointment with multiple [council members] instead of [counselors].
